Is there anything as pretty as barley ready to cut?

Spent the day cutting with my 955 slather.

Sure wish it was going to yield as much as it looks like, but the hail on the 4th and 7th did a lot of damage.

Hope to bale some hay today and maybe combine the barley by Friday.

I was wondering how it turned out, will get a little back. How did the corn fare. Did it come back? Gordy in Mn.

I grew a little barley for a neighbor for a few years, he was feeding heritage hogs. Keeps the tallow more white than a corn diet.

So now on the recalculated Fsa acres I will have 2.5 acres of barley on my records for decades I presume, instead of the 10 acres of wheat I’ve had on the records for decades. Don’t think we grew wheat since the early 90s….. govt records are funny aren’t they.

Sure was hot enough this week for swathing. I volunteered to cut my neighbors small grains again this year, then found out he tripled his acres and his oats lodged. Wow that was a long hard hot 2 days. I actually finished under more moon light than sunlight the second day, surprised the dew hadn’t shut me down. But got through it and happy to help.
