I have no problem if companies want to sell my data so long as I consent. But I do take issue with the fact that I don't get monetarily compensated for it. I think the tide will turn in this area eventually, depending on the nature of the product/service selling the data.

Yes I have, I nearly always set my trucks CC at 53 in a 50mph zone. I hope California wins their lawsuit, but GM has threatened to stop selling their products there if they lose.

My main reason for not buying new these days is, a new vehicle can track everywhere you drive, your speed, and how long you're there; and there's no way to shut it off. California is sueing GM over that now.

By the way...
I stopped by the Chevy dealer yesterday and asked the price of a new plain jane 2500HD, 4X4 work truck + towing package.
It would be special order - maybe take up to 3 months to get.
Would have the new 6.6L engine and TEN SPEED transmission.
$55K - Less than I expected but still WON'T HAPPEN!!

My first pickup was a 47 Chevrolet corner window farm truck which I maintained in order to drive it to high school . Later in the muscle car era I thought of some 2 seat V-8 pickups as sports cars. Only new I bought was 97 Ford 4wd for $18000.,and it rusted out including frame. Now the 4 doors are Just to expensive .

My trucks have boxes and hoists on them and are ~2 tons. My pickup is a 3/4 ton X-cab with 6.5 foot box. Exactly what I want in a pickup. I would also take a full 4 door 3/4 ton pickup as long as it has the 6.5 foot box. Just don't like the 5-some-odd-foot boxes.

Where are you located? Here in the Twin Cities it's not only mechanical failure that makes people trade up. It's the rust.
I was a remodeling contractor for most of 30 years. Appearance means something when you are working in an upscale neighborhood. And my tax lady told me when she had depreciated them out and it was time to buy.
I had 2 pickups like your 03. An 01 and an 06.
Great trucks and I still really like that body style.

Never heard of this before.
I had an 01 and an 06. Bought both of them new and put roughly 175 K on each of them.
I had to have the transmission rebuilt on the 02 at ~150K and a new crank sensor ~120K on the 06. Beyond that just regular maintenance.
I had a new 01 Jimmy too that was stolen and totaled and all my tools gone about 6 months after I bought it.
But I suppose that one doesn’t count except I still get mad when I think about it.
The dash was working fine tho
