Sometimes you should have a second opinion before you post a sign

First of all, I hate going to Walmart but sometimes they are the only place in town that has what I need. Of course I find out that they no longer stock what I wanted. So I picked up a few other things since I was there. While I was standing in only line with a check out person, I see this sign. It amused me. BTW they had all new live person check-out counter installed. I hear they want to get away from self check-out

Our Walmart just did a complete remodel, I mean everything top to bottom, side to side, plus they added more self checkouts, I don't think self checkouts are going away any time soon, they did a very good job with the remodel.

You could be right but I recently read an articale that because of people not scaning all items that they were going back to real people for check outs. By the looks fo the Walmart I was in today, id say that is true. Otherwise why wouldnt they put in more self check-out kiosks.

Most of their competitors probably do offer home liquor delivery and carry out to your car service for online orders. Does Wisconsin still allow drive thru liquor stores?

Self checkout lanes still require at least one or more employees monitoring the automatic surveilance cameras and another person in the checkout area supervising the self-checkout customers. Anytime I have a pharmacy item that I have already paid for at the pharmacy I take my purchases through the regular checkout because the self checkout surveilance camera always flags it as an unscanned item and shuts down the checkout until a store emplyee investigates and restarts my checkout.

Myself, if I was a retail employee I would be very reluctant to risk confronting supected shoplifters everyday for little more than minimum wage pay. Corporate liability insurance providers and employee health insurance providers might prohibit store employees from confronting suspected shoplifters to reduce the risk of assalt and injury to store employees.

When my wife worked at Walmart the cashiers and stock people weren't allowed to do anything about shoplifters. The shoplifting had to be observed by a PIC, supervisor or loss prevention personnel.

I have boycotted Walmart for decades. I won't go into the long story of the particular incident why. I did however buy a small toolbox there two or three summers ago. I did my shopping on line and found they were the only place which had what I wanted. When the poor old goon at the door checked over my self checkout receipt, I shoved the toolbox in his face and asked if he wanted to look in it. No. I could have filled it! I would think checking that would have been more important than checking the paper work.

Does the sign mean the the cashier will spot you a fiver, iffen yer short on cash?
Some people might think that's an assist. 🤣🤣

Maybe the first Walmart I was in in the early 70s a man confronted my brothers and I for "suspected" shoplifting. My brother had a new pair of shoes bought somewhere else and a guy confronted us at the register and bluntly asked, "Are you going to pay for those shoes?" At first, I didn't know what he was talking about but then it dawned on me he was thinking my brother had stolen the shoes. I told him rather bluntly that those shoes didn't come from this store and he backed down. I know people shoplift all kinds of stuff from Walmart and it's disgraceful, but you'd better be sure you saw an actual crime being committed before confronting someone.

And send the thief to jail would help a lot more than anything.

Yes. Walmart (and other stores as well) were experiencing an unacceptable level of theft with the self checkout lines. As for the Alcohol sign I guess your state requires sales personnel to be 21 or more years old to be able to sell alcohol.
