New enthusiast with a couple of questions

Hello, I just recently purchased a 1937 John Deere A and would like to both introduce myself and ask a couple of questions.
The tractor was mostly restored about 5 years ago. It has a rebuilt motor, fresh paint, new clutch, radiator, and tires. I think I did pretty well getting it for $2,500.

Looking at a couple of lines, I'm trying to figure out how to source good replacements. From what I understand, one line is a breather, and the other is an oil line for the governor.

I've looked for both and can't seem to locate reproductions. Is there a way to make my own?? Or is there an easy, straightforward replacement out there?

Attached is a photo of the lines in question (from another tractor) for illustrative purposes. The red circled one is leaking oil and is siliconed. The blue circled line is loose and hanging from the vent (stack) "thing."

There are rubber packings used on each end of those pipes. About like a piece of a heater hose. Available from your dealer. The top one is a crankcase vent and the lower one supplies oil to the rocker arms. Www. Jdparts.com for a free online parts book.

What you need is John Deere part A1818R tappet lever oiler pipe and A1187R ventilator pipe from governor by serial number. The rubber packings are B60R. For the metal pipes try a salvage yard for a good used one. As Worthington Ag Parts Worthington MN; 800-533-5304. Or NOS pipes, try Greg Stepten, The Old Tractor Company in Colorado 231-846-8243. Give him the JD Part No you need, he may have them? If you can find the correct size pipe, you could make your own? Even soft copper pipe?

As mentioned above, there are, or should be, rubber packings on the ends of both of those pipes. If the threaded fitting is missing on the vent pipe since you said it’s just hanging there, those should still be available also. The pipes themselves probably don’t need replaced.

There isn’t any sort of flare or taper on them I’d be headed into NAPA after some of that brake line. It’s copper nickel I believe now but it bends really easy it costs a lot per roll but you can use it for fuel lines too. It might be a larger size though just have to take it in see what they have.

A lot of mine are double flare now I’ve been making my own the parts man sells conversion fittings now as they leak going away from those packings for fuel especially. So the adapter converts the pipe thread to flare fitting then I make the flare on the pipe. I promise it’s more simple then it sounds but then I don’t have to buy any more packings. Even if you want to keep it original and do the packings I’d go to napa and get the tube.
