Ford 4000 power steering pump

I have a Ford 4000 with power steering issues. This is a UK manufactured industrial tractor. The Plessy pump is C5NN3N675F. I can’t find a replacement or a kit for the pump. Is there an alternative pump or a work around? The power steering works turning left, but not to the right.

What year tractor? I had both a 65 and 68 4000 (4100) The 38 inch rear wheels and the steering was completely different on both of them. Now the low tractors the steering is completely different on them. So information on one model could be completey different on the other.

Sounds like you have a steering control valve issue and not a pump problem
What model of industrial tractor is it as there are a few different steering systems for those tractors depending on its exact model

This is all I know about the tractor. I also know that it was originally painted yellow.

Is see the Basildon serial number and build date of July 66 but no model number
This is common on the early European models
Post a photo of the tractor from the left front
If it has a loader raise the loader to get a good view of the tractor

That pump is used on 4500 plus some other models. The steering cyl is under radiator. Iam with Destroked, its a control valve adjustment problem.

I should add that this system has a separate reservoir above the pump, the pump and the hydraulic cylinder with two ports. Nothing else is in the system.

Ok you have a standard 4000 all purpose ag model, not a industrial
For some reason the control valve is not shifting to give you power steering in both directions

Good to know. I wonder why it was yellow. In any event it looks like I need to get into the cylinder to find the problem. Thanks

As stated by others, you don't have a pump problem, you have a control valve problem. Those are an add on system. I have never had much luck repairing them. They are still available in the after market, and aren't terribly expensive. I replaced one on a 5000 a couple years ago.

Could have been a city park or road department tractor, they are often painted yellow or orange for higher visibility
The 4 long bolts holds the valve assembly to the cylinder

Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement control valve or complete cylinder and valve? My searches are not coming up with one for the Ford 4000.

We have the same 'power assist' system on our 4000...also having issues so was looking around...there was a place called Walt's Tractor that offered rebuilt cylinder/valve units. Not inexpensive, also not sure if they can just rebuild yours for a lower price, About to call them myself!
