John Deere 50 PTO Clutch slipping

I tried to put my 50 on dyno at a show last weekend but when I engaged the PTO clutch it could only spin over very slowly even with the engine at full throttle, I got the tractor unhooked and then tried the clutch again and the PTO turned over at normal speed under no load. I believe that the live power clutch is slipping, is it difficult to adjust?

There's a lot to discuss about the PTO clutch. I have overhauled a couple and I still would study the service manual before I did any adjusting.

PTO clutch is adjustable. Take a look to see if there is room to adjust tighter or if clutch is wore out. Not difficult to adjust. Follow the service manual.

I agree to attempt adjusting pto clutch by removing round plug on RH side of housing. Type adjusting nut determined by tractor serial #.

If you pull the plug and you find heavy gear oil in the pto clutch the seal is bad between the pto housing and transmission. You will need to pull the rockshaft housing to fix it.
