Buda Forklift, 4B-153

I bought an Ol Buda forklift back in March 2026 and have been tinkering with it. Got it running pretty good with minor work. Currently looking into opening up the fuel pump to inspect because my oil has fuel in it.

Does anyone here have some more history about buda and possibly an owners manual they would be willing to share electronically? I tried downloading some that another member (mike(neohio)) posted a while ago but the links were no longer active

From what I can find she does have the Buda 4B-153 motor in it, and that Allis-chamers bought Buda out in or close to 1953.

1953 was indeed the year A-C bought the Buda company lock-stock and barrell. What month?? I don't know. The tag on that engine reflects Allis's ownership of Buda at the time that particular engine was built. The 153 is the four cylinder version of the six cylinder 230 which was used in the WD45 diesel and models A and A2 combines. The G-153/D-153 were never used in any A-C farm tractor. Only the lift truck division as far as I know.

I'll look through my old stuff for that manual. I have the factory service manual on paper that I got from a man in Ill. Pretty sure I scanned in and put it on dropbox but that was long ago so I don't know if that site is still active. I'll see if I can find it today. I have three Bidas in my COOPs but none have fuel pumps. I'd agree it's probably the fuel pump and that could be a generic pump that was used on a lot different brands. You should be able to find a kit somewhere.

I got the lift on wood blocks yesterday and will be tearing into it today after work and hopefully finding the issue in the fuel pump.

Would any of you know the rest of the information on this weight plate? Im unsure if it actually goes to this lift but worth a shot

I put that on dropbox with some Cockshutt and COOP sales brochures and wasn't sure if it was still active. A lot of people will say the A-C and Buda engines are the same but there are some differences. I can't name many as I'm not familiar with AC engine but one thing is the sleeves. Budas have the seal rings on the sleeve and AC have them in the block.

I'm glad you found it because I plain forgot to look yesterday. I wasn't sure if the dropbox files were still active. A lot of people will say the AC and Buda engines are the same but there are differences. I'm not familiar with ACs but one thing I know is the sleeve seals of Budas are on the sleeve and ACs have them in the block. I rebuilt my E4 with parts from Reliance.

Well the fuel pump does have a tear in the diaphragm, debating on buying another or replacing with a small electric carburetor pump.... only issue is the charging system doesnt work on er. Or can you rebuild these diaphragm? Im just not seeing it with my current part without some modifications

Lol when I say she runs well... I mean the motor sounds and acts strong and she lifts like she should, that being said zero guages work, breaks and ebreak dont work and the charging system doesnt work

Motor is sound, trans is good, clutch is good, hydraulics are good, shes a work in progress

Im going to be swapping a low pressure electronic carb pump into er and making a blocking plate for the original fuel pump. Going to be working on the electrical system here soon because it doesnt charge (not a huge problem with everything mechanical), that being said as I was lifting it onto the blocks it must of tweaked the hydraulic tank and it is leaking like a sieve, bottom drain bolt looks rusted into the tank and the hydraulic lines are being a booger to remove aswell.

It looks like the swivel is on the fitting side and not the line side (per the connection at the levers behind the passengers side cover)

Anyone have advice on how to remove the tank?
