Splice a Spiral Dishwasher Drain Hose?

I am installing a good used Bosch 300 series dishwasher. The previous owner cut the hose far too short to form the required loop 33” off the floor and then go through the floor to the basement drainpipe. Can I effectively splice with a nice pice of hose as in my photos? I would put a nice external bead of silicone on both ends of the splice hose. Replacing the hose with a new six footer looks rather involved. The splice will be out of sight behind the washer so a leak could do a fair bit of damage before being noticed.

I think once you decide to replace the hose it will be much easier than futzing with a dribble leak later. Roaches love that tiny leak under the sink. Your clamps might be water tight but I don’t think the silicone will stay water tight if you’re clamps on those ribs leak. That ribbed hose will deform under those clamps over time.

Unless it is readily accessible and leakage can be seen early, I would not trust it.

I don’t know if it’ll work but can you run the dishwasher with the hose exposed to test it out? I think any problems will show up right away. Confidence level is low for the silicone sealant. I think it’ll degrade over time.

I have no problem paying for the best hoses and then replaçing them every couple of years. It is cheaper than a water leak in the long run.

A while after posting this I did a little research, and while 33” is ideal the article said a minimum of 20” is fine. I had enough length for s 20”’rise so I was able to put it together with no splice.

I wouldn't piece together a drain hose. It would either leak or develop a clog there. You can get drain hose up to 12' in length.

I also replace washing machine hoss at five years or under. And I buy the good hoses, but a burst hose is catastrophic. You can now buy such hoses with a shutoff component that is supposed to slam shut in the case of a burst hose but I don't know if I trust that. It is easy to just replace them early.
