1550 Hydraulic Pump

I found these pictures on the net. Unit does not have a loader but is virtually the same as mine.

Looks the same as what I posted, although someone has modified it at the outlets and added the hoses.

Does your hydraulic unit look like this:

Looking at your image I can say partly. If I have the correct numbers item 30 is present to the left side of the seat. In front and slightly to the right of item 30 is the valve controls for the 2 remotes. Slightly more forward to the left is the fill and dip stick.

The id plate is somewhat damaged but if I have read is correctly model is 266 or 255 41 8 or 9 and 33 or 88. Looks like the plate took a beating and hard to read.

Take a look at the online parts book. Do you have a service manual?

I can no longer access the online parts book and have not figured out why. No service manual.

After spending some time with the image provided by scootergmc I could see similarities with our 1750 tractor. I have a IT shop manual for the 17, 18, 1950 tractors and found that image. We also have a 1650 tractor as a potential parts tractor.

How interchangeable are the pumps on these tractors?

I think, but I might be wrong, that the splines are different on the 15. That might be the only difference. I've been told, and again, can't say from real experience, that you can take the drive gear from a 1600 or 1650, put that in the 1550 and use the new pumps that are available for the larger tractors.

There were at least two different pumps, the hydraulic assembly was probably updated throughout production to include power beyond, and it could be a other issues rather than the pump- valve, relief, etc. Until you identify which unit you have and serial number, it's kind of fruitless to assume it's a pump without diagnosis. I suggest getting the correct service manual or possibly referencing the same pages in the 1750, though I don't know if they're exact.
