foord 2000 exhaust wobble

I noticed my 2000 ford 3cy gas exhaust pipe wobbles a little bit. I tried to tighten it and it doesn't seem to be loose. I have not removed sheet metal yet to see what is going on. Is it normal for them to wobble a little? Thanks all.

If it is a vertical exhaust that goes up through the hood, then it it is just a friction fit on the manifold. When it is new, you should be able to press down on the pipe when you install it and it should be a fairly tight fit. As it ages it will fit looser and looser, especially if it accumulates rust, which most eventually do. Try taking it off and see how much rust is on the inside of the end of the pipe where it seats on the manifold and the manifold itself. If there is a lot of rust on either or both, see if you can remove the worst of it with a wire brush.

Thanks, that makes sense. It didn't seem to wobble when I got it but that has been 5 years now.
