44 model B oil pressure adjustment

Looking for advice on possible having to adjust oil pressure on this tractor. At the moment my gauge is showing just above the "stop" on gauge at idle and only slightly higher at higher RPM's. I'm planning on getting a low pressure numbered gauge to check before I tear into it. My question is, (and I'm guessing this is going to be very variable), How much does one turn of the adjusting screw change the oil pressure? I really don't want to have to pull the battery and starter and crankcase cover off more than once to get pressure to an acceptable range. TIA

I had to adjust my A when I switched from 30 to 15W-40. Took quite a few clicks, more than I expected. Isn't the adjustment just inside a pipe plug?

They only run 10-15lbs. of oil pressure.

No, under crankcase cover!

Thanks, I am aware of that. Mine is running at STOP or a little above. Will check with another gauge but would like to know roughly how many turns of the screw to raise to an acceptable pressure!

If you have cheap oil gauges made overseas, it may not show the correct pressure. Evergreen Restoration makes the best accurate oil gauge.

yes, I understand that. Yes, i know that evergreen's gauges are the best! My question though is approximately how much do I need to turn the pressure adjusting screw to raise oil pressure from let's say 2 lbs. to 6 lbs.?

I guess that’s the prescribed method one turn at a time if it’s low. Anything else is just a speculation and I’m surprised there is even that instruction in the book.

Procedure is definitely easier on later tractors where it’s outside. Above serial number 201000

You can see 2 ish turns or so gets the pressure to where it was at the lowest setting from the factory back when it was new I don’t think theres a stop but I could be wrong so again it’s purely speculation as to where it is unless you can feel it loosen from the spring

If it was me I’d install the evergreen gauge and then turn it in one turn and see how you like it.

If you are actually raising from 2 or six you might want to consider rods and mains

Was able to put a gauge on the B today! Oil pressure was running about 8 lbs. What are the opinions on this amount? Good to go or should I try to increase it?

Increase to 12 to 14 if you can

This is assuming engine running at high idle
