Massey Ferguson 165 MultiPower with no pulling power in any gear

I have a MF165 multipower that we have had issues with for a little over a year. Initially the tractor could t pull itself up small hills in high gear. Not that the engine pulled down, but rather it acted like it was slipping.
Over the winter it got much worse. Even to the point where in the very lowest gear it couldn’t pull itself up small hills.
The tractor has fresh hydraulic fluid and it is full or close to it. We replaced some of the seals, caskets, and the hydraulic filters about 15 months ago.
I’ll not sure where Togo from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
This is the only tractor my mom has to put out feed for her cows, so I need to find a resolution as soon as I can. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the engine clutch may be bad. How much pedal free play? Is it as called for in the Operator's manual?

Any oil in the clutch area? Is the pressure plate dry or oily?

Might want to post this on the Massey Ferguson Board too. My opinion is that the engine clutch(foot operated) may be the culprit based on your description. Does the MP noticeably shift from High to Low and Low to High with the appropriate change in ground speed? If so then the engine clutch could need replacing or at least adjusting. I've used a Massey with MP a time or six but am no expert for sure. Good Luck!

Thank you all for your responses. The clutch doesn’t have much play but I do know people ride the heck out of it. I will be honest, I’m not sure if the MP works or not. I usually don’t tough it.

If you don't mess with it, do you leave it in high or low multi-power?

I think you may need to split it and replace the engine clutch. Not that bad of a job. When the high range Multi-Power fails it just drops into low range which is a direct drive setup. Sometimes these tractors are used for years with no high range Multi-Power, just be careful on a downhill run.

Riding the clutch wears the clutch material and the pressure plate springs, and throw-out bearing. Once you have the proper clutch adjustment made you'll know more about what's needed.

If you go up a hill now with it will it shutter and drop down into low, then keep pulling, or stop completely (0 mph) on a hill?

Try moving the multipower lever to low and see if that makes a difference.

I just want to completely rule out the multipower, hate to do the engine clutch and that doesn't fix it.

Also like others have said, try adjusting your clutch and see if that makes any difference.
