Hello,

I have a late 62' 460 gas that has slow acceleration when pulling the throttle back, slow to rev up. I am not sure how to adjust to fix. The 560 gas I have has way faster throttle response. Thank you for your help and suggestions.

Make sure all the linkage moves freely. Maybe a drop or two of motor oil on each moving pivot wouldn’t hurt.

Can you take the throttle linkage off at the carburetor, then run the throttle manually to see if it's an engine or a linkage related issue?

Bent pushrods? I had that problem with my SC Case. Turns out I had 3-4 bent pushrods. It ran smoothly, just very slow acceleration and hp.

Well some ideas from above . But lets dig deeper here . lets start with carb adjustment . I set them at four and a half turns off the seat to five turns . Ya do not want them to run lean ya make them run fat. , next look into the air cleaner stuff up filter will choke off air flow , next up on the table is ing timing and advance curve of the dist. . when and GOD only knows the last time the valve adjustment was done since this is NOT a Hyd lifter engine but a flat tappet engine or SOLID lifter engine NEEDING Valve adjustments Regularly Then scyning the Gov to carb . When ya have them tuned correctly they are a snappy engine just not a power house . I owned a 460 gas ONCE , it was like owning a Boat , you are over joyed the day ya bought it and ecstatic the day it went down the road when some fool bought it . Mine ran good but not what i thought it should do , it LOVED gas really Loved gas as i could not disc a 10 acre field twice do the head lands three times and the dead furrow three times when it would die at the far end out of gas . And at that time frame i was only pulling a 12 foot disc. . Plowing it had a tough time pulling my 540 4x14 plow in second gear in corn ground where it's predecessor a 450 D pulled the same plow in third in Sod and it ran two days on a tank of fuel , on the same disc three days a gear higher . . when i got into the repair work and buying and selling i never bought another 460 , 560 ok 706's buy the truck load same block but what a couple more CU. IN DOES and less Gas
