Restoration suggestions?

Who does restorations? Solid reputation and done right, It Would be for a1976 IH 674. Running condition and being used as we speak. No paint and body work at this time, need wiring harnesses, for lights etc. and hydraulic tune up etc. I’m in Central Virginia.

Sounds like you have had better luck with the school system than we have. I am trying to reconstruct a 1949 Ford fire engine that a local vocational school basically destroyed for a local fire department. They kept it 2 years. They took it all apart, lost parts, stole parts did a very poor job of fixing what they did. Their instructor took another job in another school system and the new instructor called us and said come and get this thing, we are done. It has cost thousands of dollars to straighten out their mess.

They took it all apart, lost parts, stole parts did a very poor job of fixing what they did. It has cost thousands of dollars to straighten out their mess.

Sounds like a poor excuse for an "Instructor"! The first one that is!

I would agree. There is no way he should have ever accepted a project that complicated, rare and with expensive to acquire parts for a Vo-Ed class project. Unless it was forced on him, accepting a project like that for a beginners class shows that he was in way over his head.

IMHO, an IH 674 would also be too complicated a project for a Vo-Ed class, unless the tractor was donated to the school and could be sold or scrapped afterwards.

I agree. Occasionally I take on a wiring problem on a later model tractor, and wonder if I need to have my to have my head examined for saying yes.

You might get in touch with Keith Jones. He founded and owns the Keystone truck and tractor museum in Virginia. He may have some contacts who do this kind of work. I believe all of their restorations are done in-house for the museum.
