Another tool I like.....Dremel tool cutoff wheels that work

Always disliked the cutting wheels for dremel tools, they're brittle and broke so easily.
So these were in an ad on facebook, for a stupid high price.
Found them at the usual place much cheaper.
These work great. Used them under a car where a 4-1/2" wheel wouldn't fit to make a few cuts on an exhaust pipe.
Didn't even go through 1 wheel.
Maybe somebody else made these small reinforced wheels before this, but these do work.

Have used the reinforced wheels for years.
Work well on bearing races. Notchem then punch and hammer to break the outer race. Then same on inner race .
Wear face protection!

EZARC 1-1/2 Cut Off Wheels

Did you keep breaking the brown Dremel wheels? Those are for super light duty work. Dremel does make reinforced cut off wheels. Just used one to grind the rivets off the twine retainer springs on the breastplate fingers on my baler. Worked great, didn't shatter.

Another handy tool is the right angle, cordless die grinder, with 2 or 3 inch cut off wheels. I have a Ryobi, and use it all the time. They are very controllable. more so than the air grinders.

Yeah, those brown wheels were the ones I was used to. Pretty worthless. Came in the set with the tool however many years ago. Didn't know about....really, didn't look for...any reinforced wheels until the ad popped up for the ones I bought

Usually weld a short bead in the races to shrink them a bit, drive right out. Have used a mill in a die grinder to notch em before

Ha. Those little things have frustrated me for years. But it's just that I don't use them often enough. When I'm done with a job it's out of sight out of mind until the next frustrating go 'round. That ends today!

I've also been meaning to get a Foredom to replace the Dremel.... someday I guess.

They knew those brown ones were brittle - that's why they sold them in the tube of 25.... it would take all of 25 to get the job done! I would finish and be so happy the disc stayed together and then bump the cord and the dremel would shift on the bench and you'd hear the disc crack as it bumped the hammer sitting on the bench next to the danged roto tool!

My wife used to work in a dental lab casting custom dental devices. She had some rubberized abrasive wheels what were awesome. Have never been able to find anything like them. Hope these you show are like them!!!

Trouble is, this wheels show are 1/8" thick. requires a lot more 4x longer to cut a 1/8" slot than 1/32"

Im so cheap I take broken 4 1/2 in cut off disc's and cut out a small wheel and punch a hole in the center and put them on the Dremel arbor.

I use these from Harbor Freight.

Diamond coated metal discs.

Even when you allow for all the time you spend replacing broken little brown wheels?
Won't say I'll never use the thin wheels again, but 95%+ of my jobs will get done with the new wheels
