Post driver hook up on IH 584…

How can I connect my post driver to my IH 584 and use the lever on my post driver? I’m able to use it now by keeping the lever on my post driver pulled back and using the lever on my tractor, but then I have to have someone on the tractor while I hold the post…

Mine has a lock tab, but when I pull the lever on my tractor and not on the post driver it puts a lot of strain on my hydraulic pump.

I get it, the valve assembley on the post driver doesn't flow through.
Might be as simple as changing the valve assembley on the post driver or replumb it so it flows through.
I had to changet the valve assembley on my wood splitter for the same reason.

Sounds like the tractor has an open center hydraulics system and the valve is for closed center. Like somebody said, change to the correct valve on the driver.

It didn’t work either way, I’ll have to change the valve on the driver like others said.

Get the number off the valve. I think I have literature to confirm open or closed center. Ive been looking for a closed center valve for mine as most of my tractors are JD and only have one open center which can’t get NH to get back to me on where to dump the oil

Recently acquired a Shaver post ponder serial number 4844. With talking to Shaver Mfg. narrowed it down to being manufactured in 1969. Also learned that with the Gresen valves used back then, it required changing out the valve to switch between open and closed center. Not just switching plugs.

Anybody have experience with this era pounders in regards to valve numbers used and/or have a owners manual they would consider scanning from this time frame.
