NH 276 Baler misses cutting the string completely

I have a NH 276 that will not cut the string completely every so often. Yesterday it was basically every other bale it failed to cut all the strands of the twine and as the next bale formed, it pulled the knot apart. I have good bill hook wiper contact, bill hooks look good, knife is sharp. I adjusted the twine follower and needle to disk clearance to be more in spec and am trying to adjust end play but have no shims to remove. There is excessive play on the worm gear cam face on one knotter. I hope to install a new worm gear today

Are there any recommendations on how to improve the end play or what needs addressed when all the shims are removed and there is too much play?

Thanks for the help

I'd start by sharping the twine knife and go from there

Thanks for the responses. I tinkered on it and started adjusting some slack out of the knotters. The twine follower needed adjusted, I ended up replacing the drive gear for the disks that runs of the cam. That really improved my endplay. I need to replace the bill hook drive gear and I think I'll be ok.

With some adjustments I was able to get the field baled and up before the rain. It missed randomly for the remaining 100 bales. Big improvement but still hoping for better.
