JD 336 baler plunger stop

Got a new to me 336, it's been working fine. Had it sitting a week, took it to new field to bale, plunger stop came out and busted the sheer pin before i even started baling. Needles look like they're all the way back in home position, i can't move them at all. Boomerang stop handle moves but it won't stay out of the way, i read that can be the issue, but i don't see how the needles could go back farther to pull the boomerang handle back anymore.

Any ideas? Would this still be timing or something to do with the handle? Anything I can do to get the baler running to finish? I'm worried if i just keep the stop out of the way that i might bust the needles, but I can't see why it would be out of time randomly like that.

Is needle & frame in home position?? Can you post a photo showing your balers needle frame & arm often refereed to as resembling a boomerang? That arm that resembles a boomerang has been know for angle to extend then not moving stop out of path of crank arm.

Pull up hard on needle frame, make sure linkage is intact

Make sure the needle brake is holding the needle frame in the full retracted position.

Boomerangs do get bent causing problem. They get whacked every tying cycle

The plungerhead stop needs to move easily. May need to be freed or lubed.

Don't run without it working!!!

are the pins and clevis getting worn?
