JD 1640 Rough Idle and Fuel Leaks

I've got a 1640 with a SG2 cab. It is basically the same as a 2350 with the 4239 engine.

I've noticed lately that I get a pretty rough idle when it is below 1000 rpms. I don't know if it has a misfire or it could be a pump issue? Once you get above 1000 rpms it runs well.

I've noticed a lot lately the CAV DPA pump is leaking a lot especially around the top. Figuring that the pump is at least 40 years old, might not be a bad idea to yank it off and have it resealed and tested at a pump shop.

Engine starts great, doesn't smoke at all, but I did feel like it was down a little power when I was mowing hay with it this week going up some steep hills.

I have not changed the fuel filter yet, that is on top of my list. Any other tips for what to look at for the rough idle?

The rough idle COULD also be the pump speed advance is not working right too. I've seen that a few times on pumps I've had apart for repair.

I baled hay with it tonight.

Seemed to run well and had plenty of power, I think I just lugged it down cutting hay a couple of days ago.

It will not idle around 750 well gets sporatic, seems to run ok around 1000 rpm.

Since it leaking, figured it's worth just getting it rebuilt.
