Just saw the peak of the lunar eclipse...

About 11:19 CDT in my latitude / longitude the nearly 95% occlusion hit its peak. I could clearly make out the pole of the earth as it passed just inside the perimeter of the moon's circumference. Luckily it has been very clear, and humidity is low enough to keep haze to a minimum. That's as close as I can recall it being a partial in my numerous trips around the sun.

I forgot about it til you posted. Thank you for the reminder. Not very often is it clear enough to see anything like that here. Saw the start of it when I closed up for the night.

Doggone it, I forgot about it and went to bed. I've seen two total solar eclipses. We went to Tennessee in 17 and Ohio in 24. I'm not joking when I tell you that it changed my life. I never felt anything like I did at the one in Tennessee. That has to be the euphoria that people say they feel when they're going toward the light during a near death experience. I feel like it gave me a new life, and I'm taking full advantage of it. The last lunar eclipse, I stood outside naked for a while watching it. That was a rush too. Part of my new life.

I had forgotten about it. I went outside to turn off water about the time of the peak. It was very dark but I didn't look up for the moon. Later on when I was in bed I remembered the eclipse. I went outside and looked and it was the last quarter. At least I saw that. I wish I had seen the peak, I think it was near total at my latitude.

Woke up about 1:40AM. There was a chunk of the moon missing near the bottom.

Mr. Lund is not joking, the total solar is a full on experience. Tears rolled down my eyes when I saw it in Idaho Falls and followed it to Jackson in ‘18 or ‘19?
I stood out there in my skivvies enamored by last nights performance
It’s a big universe out there and taking a minute to look up certainly puts it all in perspective

That's one of the advantages of rural life. If you want to go outside naked and howl at the moon you can just go ahead and do it.

Yep, I could have done it again if I'd remembered. Not many can say they've seen two total solar eclipses, probably a whole bunch fewer that can say they've stood naked and watched two lunars.

I think it was the first time since I was in the low single digits that I felt like I was seeing the world for the first time. Afterwords it took me back to when I was just old enough to be outside by myself in the evening, probably going between the house and barn while Dad was milking, and I stood there and watched a sundown for the first time. I can remember standing there watching from the time it touched the horizon until it was gone.

It honestly feels like I was reborn to a whole new life at that eclipse in Tennessee that day, and I'll be darned if I'm going to waste a minute of this one obcessing over the things that most folks obcess over.

This is MY life, not somebody else's to control of influence. Once you've felt that euphoria, you can't even begin to describe it to anybody. It's something that has to be experienced, not described.
