I got 500 gallons of off road the day before yesterday. $5.05 a gallon. Over $2500. Right on the heels of paying $1159 for 280 gallons of gas last week. All after a 20% drop in cattle prices caused by the same (What's safe to say here?).

I think we're looking at a bare minimum $800 a month to run the oil furnace this fall, winter and spring. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I wonder what the possibilities would be for switching over to propane. In August I started the new “budget plan” through the provider for my mom’s home we rent out in Kansas for 700 gallons at $1.69 a gallon. I realize that bringing in a 500 gallon pressure tank and having a place to set in is a bust at some places. I also realize the delivery and supply “infrastructure” may also not be in place in some areas. I also don’t know what the cost of converting a fuel oil heating system to propane would be. I also don’t know how close a gallon of propane comes to supplying the heat a gallon of fuel oil produces.

In the Midwest natural gas is usually the most economical energy source if it is available.

That is only four months away. Not much other relief is likely to happen within that short time.

Yeah, I deliver heating oil and off road diesel. I'm embarrassed to give the delivery ticket to the customer. These high prices are totally uncalled for in my opinion. Too much speculation from the wall street traders!

Im happy with my heat pump in the house and propane summer fill plan in the shop. I also have a fire place that will heat the house if I want to work that hard.

Just what I have. Heat pumps with propane back up. My widow neighbor is dreading her oil bills this winter. Around here oil delivery folks are mostly gone so no shopping.

Another option is keep the oil
Add a couple mini splits to bear the bulk of the load in the shoulder seasons
Heating oil for those long cold nights

Then the prices of fuel were raised because it was good for us, refineries were closed and pipelines were stopped because it was good for us.

So I would not expect a change in vote to help any of this! Would make it worse, more likely. Look at the west coast, where one party is in control the prices are seriously higher long term.

So far where I live fuel prices haven’t risen much. Typically prices jump around in fall anyhow, as we adjust from summer to winter blends and use patterns. Things settle down as winter sets in.

diesel prices have never been higher... that is an easy look up. National avg old record was $5.81 it is currently $5.85.

Getting us out of the war of choice will give some relief.

Oh, and "prices will start coming down the first day" ... but back here in reality they have done nothing but go up
