Setup??? It will very likely come with clear instructions for setup. Physical motion doesn’t transfer to well yet via the www, but we’re getting closer! Getting closer

I suggest getting the saw first, then knowing the brand, and assembly needed. Then you can likely find a manual for that saw online to get specific information for that saw.

Right now, it is like you are asking "how do I tune up my lawnmower", without telling the needed details about it and the engine to answer your question correctly.

We have an older Craftsman, it's a good tool. When you get it home, check it over for obvious problems, plug it in and run it. If you have questions then, ask away, with pictures. Hopefully you will get the owners manual, I don't know if I have one, never needed it.

Most Craftsman manuals can be found online. Get all the identification and the model number off it and seacrh for a manual for that model number.

Is it assembled now? If so you should be able to move it without disassembling it.

no its in pieces, before my grandpa passed he was trying to fix it.

Then you need to ID it and find a manual. Craftsman made/rebadged a number of different bandsaws and if it needs parts, it needs the right parts.

I too have an older craftsman bandsaw although mine came already assembled and running. Normally, I'm suspicious whenever something is disassembled for repair as in 'what wasn't right that it got taken appart'. That aside there aren't very many adjustments beyond blade tension and alignment on the wheels.
I'll help as I can once you have your kit.

Searspartsdirect.com and ereplacement parts.com each have exploded diagrams and parts lists. You will need your model number. Many parts for older saws are no longer available.

When you get your saw up and running, Alex Snodgrass is a bandsaw expert who has numerous videos including how to set up and tune a bandsaw.

His original post is a bit misleading. He has since posted the saw is in pieces; his grandfather (before he passed) took it apart to make repairs. KG needs to get the saw, find out what repairs/parts it needs, get parts, and make the repairs, before he needs to worry about set up. Repair and setup are two different steps to me.

Trying to fix is not the same as fixed, just needing to be put back together, to me. Sorry, trying to fix indicated repair work and maybe some parts were still needed to me.

You should still locate a manual for it to be sure everything is there and in the right place.

Is it 12” or 14”. They sold many many of the 12”. Both are good saws Blades for the 12” are expensive as they are not a common size. I have the 14”. Either are not hard to set up. You can download the manual once you know the exact model number. If you get stuck post on here as I’m sure we can help.
