Nope, sounds like a pig-in-poke to me, with a side order of cashless cow. I actually don’t know anything about Belarus tractors other than one small farmer in the area of Kansas I grew up in bought one new in the early 80s. He kept it around a while at least 5-8 years. From what I hear on here I don’t think they are the easiest to get parts for but you can get them.

Had a neighbor up the highway that had a Belarus. It was hard to find parts. But, on the flip side, the Belarus is designed with typical Russian pragmatism. All stuff that might have to be repaired is on the outside of the tractor. Pumps, etc.................... You don't have to tear the entire tractor apart to access some critical systems. Dunno................it's a gamble I guess.

Nope. If I wanted a two stroke diesel I'd just get another Oliver. At least I can probably get parts while I go deaf from the noise.

Dad ran a Belarus as a mowing tractor for the city. He hated it. When the dealer mechanic came to do some repairs he asked how he liked the tractor. Dad told him it's almost as advanced as a Farmall C. The Belarus replaced a JD 2010 gas that they had for a couple of years until the cost of repairs to keep it running exceeded the value of the tractor. That thing was a worn out piece of junk from the day they bought it.

I know of at least half a dozen in my area that were hauled off for scrap. Belarus and Zetor and Long are not popular in my area. They came and went fast.

Years ago there was a dealer in a neighboring town so you used to see some of them. But I haven't seen one now in probably thirty years.

From reading the replies it sounds like it might be okay as a novelty for tractor rides and shows but not as your daily driver.

I remember seeing them at the National Farm Machinery Show when they first came around. Bunch of porous castings and just overall poor fit and finish. You would have thought they would have at least bondoed the casting holes for the ones going to the show.

There were a few around here back in the day, I don’t know of any of them still around. I do know where there are a couple sitting in fence rows.

All that being said, you can watch YouTube videos of people still running them around the world. I guess it would be kind of neat to just have one, but I’d hate to have to depend on it to get any real work done.

There are still a few Long around here still going strong. Other than that I know nothing about them. Used to see a few Zetor but I don’t see them anymore. Haven’t seen a operational Belarus in years, I do know where there are a couple in fence rows.

Neighbor had one with mower and he couldn’t keep the right rear wheel from breaking from turning to the right. Welded it up every way you could think of. Had so many gears he never knew what gear he was in. Piece of junk. Built very crude. Only thing he liked it was good on fuel. Hadn’t seen one in years in East Texas.

Friend of mine had a coal yard. He sold a lot of 1 and 2 ton orders to homeowners. He had a big Belarus with loader. He went out one morning to load his truck and the tractor broke in two at the bell housing. Almost destroyed his truck. He called me and asked me if I could weld it back together. I did go look at it. It was one of the worst castings I have ever seen. Very thin and full of porosity and sand. He junked it.

Based on where they were produced I don't know why anyone would want one.

They were a fad tractor along with SAME in response to the hyper inflation of the late 1970's. Even in the best of times dealers were far and few. At least SAME sold through established farm equipment dealers.

As mentioned they had a brief popularity in the 80s as an ecconomy import. An IHC dealer sold a bunch of them.

Rough, crude, not so well put together. As mentioned they were built simple and so easier to repair, but the folks that bought them got tired of repairing them…..

Seems a lot ended up with transmission problems and it was difficult to find parts as the dealers that sold them got out of carrying them.

It would be fun for a para collector tractor I’m sure, something to putter with. Would not want one to actually use as a tractor. So depends what your question is…..
