The 444 was Made in Kentucky from 1967-1971
12 pages Brochure. So I almost got all of it pictured

I had a 3444 TLB. Great little machine. The engine/drive train was built in England, imported, and married with an assembly consisting of the front frame/hood/axle/loader here. And then a backhoe set on the back. I was told that bypassed duties. The gas engine was a BC 144, British, carbureted with a Zenith down draft automotive style carb with an accelerator pump. It had a round float the likes of which I never saw anywhere else. The distributor was a British Delco with a tach drive built in. Totally different casting than a domestic one, but fortunately it used the same replacement parts. The starter was a blasted Lucas where the Bendix stuck way out on the end and pulled back in to start. It would occasionally jam. I don't know where it was assembled. I would assume the 444 was a similar set up?

The 444 was build in 2 series The one in the Brochure is the early one I think that was make Mostly in the US 1967-1971 The second in the series 1972-1978 was made in England and Australia. Same Diesel Engines But Gas Engine were different. Early models used C-153 Engines later models BC-144. BC / BD Engines Mosty are from England. The later models were Also build as 3444 Industrial

I have this brochure and a smaller 1-2 page advertisement as well AND have this tractor.

Bought the tractor at the auction my wife's grandmother (she just passed at 101 years old on Sunday) had and it is still on the farm. Wife's grandfather bought it new in 1969. I think?? he traded an H for it. I know he traded a super M-TA for the 686 as i have that bill/receipt

pretty handy and easy to drive tractor. Need to fix the PTO engagement lever by rewelding or see if i can find a new one. It has the large offset style as opposed to the straight one you can find everywhere.

I have the foldout brochure for the "NEW" 444. Also have a 2444 & it's quite the handy tractor!

Thanks for sharing the brochures on the 444. I have one that is semi retired but still earns its keep. It is hooked to a 6 foot bush hog right now and is working on pasture maintenance as time and weather allows. It is a diesel my Dad purchased. It has served us well doing everything from plowing to haying both square ( JD 24 T) and round bales (530 Hesston). Tough old tractor that will be here as long as I am.

Dad bought one brand new in 70 with a loader on it. It was a nice tractor, but we lost it in 72 when the barn burned. Coming from a JD B and A the 444 and the 460 we got around the same time were quite the upgrade.
