John Deere 1070 tractor clutch questions (PTO)

I just recently purchased a John Deere 1070 4wd tractor. I was told it had been sitting because of transmission issues. We hooked a jump pack to it and it started and sounds great. When I pushed the clutch in to put it in gear it would creep forward and eventually lock in any of the gears when in low range. Weird without any grinding?
We got it home and checked fluids, put a battery in it. I eventually did it into a higher range and got the clutch broke loose. The clutch works good and doesn't slip under a load but feel like it is all at the end of the pedal travel before it engages?
I tried to hook up a mower and I believe the PTO side (1st stage) of the clutch is also stuck. When you try to engage the PTO lever the gears will grind. I did manage to get it engaged a few times but it will not lock in under a load. Any time you put a load on the PTO it will kick it out. I inspected the linkage and even disconnected the rod to be sure it was getting full travel with no success.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I would start by getting the Operator's and Technical Manuals and going through a complete adjustment of the clutch and linkages, by the book.
