I got this in a box lot. It's probably 20' long.
What is it for? Or, from?

I believe that is a 6 pin XLR connector. When I used google AI mode to ask common usage, it told me it is used in stage headsets and lighting control.

Definitely an old 6-pin XLR connector, mostly used in 2-channel 2-way theater intercom systems (2 transmit, 2 receive, 1 common, and 1 ground). XLR = X type connector, Latching, Rubber insulator

The cable is regular unshielded 18/4 wire electrical wire, so I doubt it's used in audio applications. Only 4 pins are likely used since it's 4 wire cable.

Yes, the 6-pin XLR on that cable isn't going to be used for it's standard purpose... it would have to be something customized for a specific application, possibly connected to a couple motor circuits, like a hand-held remote for a man lift, or camera pan/tilt, or color changer on cyc lighting, could be anything.

I'd say it's industrial application. I couldn't tell you specifically what, but for example at the auction last weekend I saw a paint mixing control monitor and station table that had a plug similar to that.
