Works really well but comes with an annual subscription cost in most cases.

And that's the thing, cost.
Those inch accuracy systems cost way more than the $1100 once and done no subscription or cell service expense unit I bought.
And I don't need that.
I'll equate what I bought to a foam marker system as far as practical accuracy goes, plenty good enough for what I need.
