Forgive my ignorance about this engine! All I know is it's a Funk conversion flathead Ford truck engine in a '45 2N. I would like to know what it is & what plugs, points, etc it uses! The tag says "Ford Industrial Engine, Type ??HNN*1002*" (first 2 are mutilated & * = a star), "Serial 45907". I'd like to tune it but don't know if what is in it now are correct. Thanks!!

Same plugs, points, and coil as a side mount distributor 1950 8N up to 1964 Ford tractors. Also the same as Ford cars and trucks from 1948 to 1951 with the flathead 226 CI engine. Cap, rotor, and spark plug wires the same as the cars and trucks. To convert the ignition to 12 volt, just need a common 12 volt can coil which does not require an external resistor to replace the existing 6 volt coil. I use either Autolite 216 or 437 for plugs.

If you have the original distributor and Holley carburetor make sure your Load-O-Matic's advance is working right. Burning a piston is a possibility. Never tuned one but I read up on it. Mine started off with a newer carburetor so I went ahead and had a late model distributor made up for it.
