JD 300 Industrial Hydraulic Pump leaking

Group,

My JD 300 Industrial started leaking a couple of days ago. Looks like the pump is leaking. It looks pretty easy to get out. Any advice before I start? Should I just buy a new pump or take it to the local hydraulic shop and get rebuilt?

where is it leaking from if it is just the ring of bolt heads around the outside of the pump they are the piston covers and have o rings on them if that is where the leak is don't use jd orings buy 90 durometer rubber they are much harder my backhoe used to blow them all the time changed to the harder orings stopped blowing them if these are the leak you can fix them yourself caution they are spring loaded when you unscrew them be ready

I cannot tell where on the pump it is leaking because it is still in the tractor. I will check that when I get it out.

The one in my 1020 cracked one time. No fixing that one. As has been said, find the leak before you take it off. No sense paying for a rebuild if the casting is cracked.
