When I went to start the 8n yesterday I turned on the gas and the sediment bowl was leaking, after trying several times taking it off and putting it on it kept leaking, so I decided it was time for a new gasket, off to Napa, got new gasket put it on and no leaks, when I turned the gas back I could see there was No gas flowing to the sediment bowl, why would there be no gas flowing to the sediment bowl? Thanks for your help.

That is a good thing.

If the carb is full and the needle is holding, there is no place for the air in the sediment bowl to go. Gas will appear in the bowl after you start the engine and some fuel is used from the carb bowl, letting the float drop to open the needle.
Thanks Jim that makes since.

NAPA gasket is $6 now!

Guy on ebay has cork/rubber ones @ $8/5 delivered.;)

Gave one to my cousin for his NAA and one to a friend for his 8N
I bought a square foot (I think it was) of the rubber impregnated cork at our auto parts store.

Use any glass bowls, like on my GM fuel pump as well. to trace out the circles and razor knife them.
I get a better fit than with readi-made gaskets because you can alter the diameters of your cutouts.
I always make a few more than I need so I always have a spare on hand even on the road.
