Soldering gland on fuel line

I’m wanting to solder a steel gland on a steel fuel line. What type of flux and solder should I be using? Thanks for any advice, Mark

Is that a high-pressure injection line? If so, I used a real silver solder and the correct paste for it from a welding supply house.

Harris Stay-Clean is available in small containers and is suitable for steel, copper, and lower bronze alloys for use with silver and nickel bearing solders.

Complete info gets a different answer, regular plumbing solder should work for that gravity line.

I use Harris Stay Clean liquid soldering flux for items like that, and regular plumbing solder, 50/50 while I still have some.

Regular flux should work, and straight 50 50 solder, Clean is your friend. Don't forget to put the nut on the line. Stan

I'd use real silver solder and Harris Stay Silv flux. Stay Clean flux is for solders with lower melting points and can burn at temperatures needed for true silver soldering.

I've also ways use regular flux and solder used for soldering copper pipe.

I'm looking forward to trying 50-50 solder on steel. I've always kept an assortment of brazing,soldering, welding fillers and fluxes on hand and never occurred to me that plumber's solder sticks to steel.

It works to attach steel mounting brackets on radiators. It can fasten fitting in gas tanks. It is used to repair holes in gas tanks. It has been used on those and more steel items over the years.

Like I said, if it works for me I'll be embarrassed for not knowing 50 years ago. I can think of times I went to extra effort precuring and using oxy/acety to braze when solder would have been fine.

They used to use lead as body filler before the advent of Bondo. Applied to the steel panel and used various wood paddles the shape the lead.

I still have a handful of lead sticks, and a pot, and spoons, and the ceramic wool gloves as were used in body work. Even the factories used to lead in the panel seams when cars transitioned to all-steel bodies. Some purists wanted lead only in their restoration work, and would pay dearly for that. I probably have enough for a few more quarter-sail panels and roof sections before I have to start scrounging up sinkers and bullets.
