My first real dealing with fuel fungus

Been having trouble with one of my tractors plugging the fuel lines, so decided to pull the fuel tank and clean it yesterday. This is what was in it.

There was at least 2 cups of that in a 15 gallon tank. I flushed it at least 30 times with a pressure washer to get it out. Feels like putty more than the slime many talk about. After I got it clean I treated it with Bio Kleen very heavily and also treated my fuel tank. I think its only on this tractor as I've had no issues with others and someone had added a stand pipe to the outlet to try to stop the problems.

Thanks for the post. That is new to me!

Couple of my buddies are over the road truckers. They own their own trucks and sure cuss the bio fuel. Said the fuel filters get plugged with black crap and they change filters a bunch. Especially during the cold months.

Another farmer friend bought a 7580 Allis Chalmers tractor, that had not run for a couple years after the owner died. Drained the tank and said it looked like strong black coffee. Don't know what he ever did with the bad fuel. Sent the injection pump and injectors for repair and flushed the entire system. His Daughter sent me a video of it running afterwards. At least he was smart enough to not crank it over before tackling the fuel system.

Thanks for the reminder, I add some biocide occasionally. The only problem I've seen in the past is when I store some fuel over winter, I have seen some slime accumulate in the fine screen funnel when I go to use it the next spring.
