Just had a pump put in my 2510 old one was leaking around the shaft,he put in a rebuilt and that leaked so the company sent an 8 piston pump. Now I can hardly get it started it pulls over so hard, put in a brand new battery. Is there any way to unload that pump to start. It a powershift and in the winter we disengage the trans to make it start easier. Any help would be appreciated Jim

install a destroker on the pump. Also suspicious of low voltage across the starter while cranking . I was going to ask what the voltage is but in 20+ years, nobody has bothered to measure .

I'm charging the battery tonight, i had expected it to be fully charged when I picked it up but you never know. And I will check voltage tomorrow night when i get home when cranking. Is a destroker internal or external to the pump.

Hopefully the destroke will solve the issue

This does bring back some memories. I had a gas 2510 that was INCREDIBLY hard to start after an engine rebuild in this case I purchased it for scrap price knowing the block had froze from getting snow down the pipe and it needed dealt with liner was split in half

So after new liners everything looked good tried the engine. Turned over very very hard but would start and run. Took it back apart (by this time had decided to build an engine stand) flipped it upside down on the stand without a head on and rotated the crank or tried to. Wouldn’t budge. Pulled individual rod bearings and pushed pistons up a bit. No to all 4 still tough. Began pulling individual rod caps. #2 or #3 I think it was 2 it was not the thrust bearing cap but I can’t remember which is which was the culprit.

Bent crankshaft was the issue and it was then solved shortly

By far one of my favorites except it was more difficult to source parts than a 4020 it looks sharp is smaller and lighter and is 12 volt with an alternator from the get go.

They will take 5 or 6 engine swaps too if it ever came down to it

Again I sure hope it’s a hydraulic or starter issue

Why would you want a destroke for a new pump, have the company make it right. Had a hard starting gas 3020, rebuilt the pump and new stroke control valve, a completely different tractor now.
May I ask since it appears no good hydraulic diagnostics procedures have been performed indicating newly installed frt pump is at fault how can one accurately blame newly installed front pump for the poor engine starting problem? A previous internal leak in tractor hyd system could make frt pump not go into de-stroke mode.

I'll bet Mr Wendt will not be a "happy repairman" if he R&R's frt pump for 3rd time & engine is still difficult to start.

I also suggest to perform good hyd diagnostic procedures & check this tractors hyd stand-by pressure which should be 2250-2350 psi before R&R of frt pump.

At the very least a manual control for troubleshooting if you think that’s the problem you can try it.

You can spend an awful long frustrating time with those pumps that come by boat

I used to be a big believer in the 1200 dollar aftermarket pumps since Deeres are 5k.

I still am but I make the customer purchase them the warranty nonsense I bet I spent 6 months trying to return one.

because the problem is not the new pump . The new pump is indicating there is an old high pressure leak . Plus I'll make a small wager that the voltage is low on the starter while cranking
