Every time I hear about this steakhouse I wonder how the eater's digestive system deals with the activity. Must be somewhat tolerable since I see that someone has gone through this routine more than once.
You don't just have to eat the steak, you have to eat the entire dinner. Why someone would want to is a mystery to me.

Were booked to the El Rancho in Gallup, thanks for mentioning it. Have been to Sedona and agree its touristy. Staying in a condo outside of town and will probably stay longer if we find some good hiking trails. From there its to San Diego to see the Aircraft Carriers. Anyone have any suggestions for heading to San Siego from Gallup?

I'd be willin to go Tucumari, to Tucson and Tonopah to Tehachapi. Get some weed, whites and wine and look for the signs.

The El Rancho used to have great breakfasts. Haven’t been there in a lot of years.

Many years ago while on vacation to visit the Grand Canyon We kept seeing the Big Texan ahead. Just had to stop and eat. They took us to the right and seated us close to a stage and brought us a bowl of pinto beans. along the wall closest to the entrance was a group of people eating when we went in. We just ordered sandwiches and coffee and before they served us a roaming group playing guitars and singing in Spanish along with two groups of cowboys wearing chaps were seated with the pinto beans and beer. Then the people along the wall got loud and one had just eaten the big steak. Something a couple from NW Ohio never expected to witness. I remember more of that than what I saw at the Grand Canyon.

Drive to Shamrock Texas east of Amarillo. It’s on Route 66 and has a lot of restored buildings etc. Neat little town.
Interesting. We spent a night there in about '90. Was dirty, depressed and delapilated. Nice to here it had a revival.
