What happened to pickups??

Pyr look identical almost to a English Cream Golden Retriever. And it just makes no sense to me why Alaska has the longest winters and use no Salt or anything. There trucks are in pretty decent shape. My son lives there. Where i live in Iowa they put down corrosive crap before it even hits and sometimes nothing comes anyway.
It's to cold for salt to work.

I'm starting to search for little newer pickup.
My 2013 runs good but is showing more rust than I like
I want a Chevy/GMC 2500, 4X4, gas -STANDARD CAB 8' bed.
Have been looking at several auction sites.
They're like unicorns.
What happened to them. Have looked at a hundred or more online and found only 3 or 4 with a STANDARD CAB and 8' bed
WTH ?
Do all you guys have extended cab trucks?
I would be happy with the plainest Jane, low mile pickup -from a no rust zone.
It has me wondering what people use an extended cab, short bed 3/4 ton for.
Done whining now...
By the way, I've seen a couple in the Washington DC/MD/VA area. How much snow/salt/rust do they get there?
Photo shows a 2018 that I would be happy with.
Only the cities and school districts do a standard cab down here. And most show up at action at 156000 to 266000 miles on them. And sotx vehicles are rust free, but have a lot of miles on them. Then there are the diesels, almost exclusively crewcabs with even more miles on them... oilfield, ranchers, and other hotshot trades.. I am always amazed at the miles on the diesels that you can still drive them home.. Many go to Mexico..

I got away from standard cabs years ago. I like the space of an extended or crew cab for storing things such as jackets, extra clothes, tools I dont want exposed to weather or eyes, and occasionally people.
What I like about them is that you can go to town shopping, hit several stores and not worry about things in your bed disappearing that you purchased from a previous visited store.

That is one of the reasons I drive a cargo van. Nothing is going to blow out of the box and I can lock the box so nobody steals my sh-t.
