Gettong a 1946 John Deere B going again

Check the rotor and cap for carbon tracking. I had a bad rotor once that wouldn't fire the plugs under compression, carbon tracking on the cap is usually easier to see. I also had new plugs that were bad, not that I have any thing against champion, pulled the plugs out of a tractor that ran, and it started perfectly.

I pulled the mag and I couldn't find a number on the cup to help me know which angle to shoot for. It was set at the third mark to the left of center which would make me think it is set for 12.5 plus 15 (5x3) or 27.5 which is neither 25 or 30. What should I do?

I would turn the engine over slowly and see if it trips at the left hand impulse mark. It's mounted with a slot to adjust timing as long as the mag was assembled with in reason. The owners manual covers this quite well.

PM me with your email. I'll send a WICO service manual. Too large to attach here.
