Mine has a spring from the floor board to the clutch pedal pivot, yours doesn’t, is there supposed to be one.
And does your pedal come all the way back towards the seat if you pull it?

Mine has a spring where the two circles are
And my clutch pedal will flop back to almost upside down

Inside the bell housing the clutch pedal shaft has a spring around it which holds tension against the pedal. I suspect yours is broken. Unless there is some other reason to split the tractor (leaking input shaft seal, leaking rear main seal, ring gear deterioration, clutch problems) I'd live with the external spring and keep my eye open for a replacement and get it on hand should you eventually need to access the area.
I think I didn’t explain well, what I was trying to say is my clutch pedal springs back just fine without outside spring, but if you pull back just a bit it flops all the backwards on the back part of the step just like it has an extra spring in it, feels like a double clutch would feel, I know that a sour subject but that’s what it feels like

My 841S if you pop the clutch the pedal can flip over so it is then hard to stop the tractor due to the pedal being where you cannot step on it

What's this for? I know its a stop could it be to limit return travel.

That sets the free travel. Was a square head set screw with lock nut.
