Difference between tsx 593 and tsx 765 carb. Help!

My Ford 850 has had issues of running too
rich, surging, and mising etc. I just put
in a new gas tank, fuel lines, shut off
etc. The timing is correct, put on a new
coil, voltage regulator, plugs, etc last
year. Air cleaner is all cleaned out.I
rebuilt the carb before and after it starts
having issues again I decided to pull it
apart to see what's going on. Well I
noticed the top half is from a tsx 765 and
the bottom half is from a tsx 593 ( the
correct carb).. so I was wondering if that
can be part of the reasons for my issues?
What's the difference between the 2? I
pulled my plugs today and they were super
black and sooty. I was thinking I had a
stuck float but maybe something else is
going on??

Don't know what the differences are.

Have you thoroughly cleaned the air cleaner?

When doing so, inspect the down tube carefully. I have seen down tubes closed off to 1/2" or so with accumulated oil soaked dust.

You will need to remove the air cleaner from the tractor to properly clean it.

Should you decide that you want/need a proper TSX 593 carburetor, I have a very good one that has been rebuilt. It has imperceptible wear in the throttle shaft bores and should idle well at 400 RPM if all else as it should be. It was the spare for my 860 which I recently sold.

Hey Dean thanks for the info. Yes I did clean out the whole air cleaner assembly when I had the hood off my tractor. It was filled with all kinds of grease but I did fix that.

I would be interested in your car depending on price. I have an 860 as well and worst case I was going to pull the carb off it in the meantime until I found a good replacement.

The weird thing is the 765 carb kit costs more than the 593 for some reason. I'd prefer to have the correct stuff myself . Let me know about your carb . I'm going to inspect my points later and see if anything else is causing my issues.

My carburetor is of no further use to me as I have sold my 860.

That said, I did buy it from ebay several years ago and did buy a kit and rebuild it so will not give it away.

I kept is mostly because it has imperceptible wear in the throttle shaft bores. Such wear allows air leaks preventing engine idle at specified idle RPM. Most vintage Ford carburetors have excessive wear in the throttle shaft bores, preventing engine idle at specified idle RPM.

My email is open if you are interested.

I do not believe that PM will work from this forum.

Again, email is open.

If email does not work, post back with your email address and I will respond.

Don't know why my email is open only on my last post.

Dean
nly see it open in one of your classic view post and not in any Modern view.

According to a historical post, 593 used on 800/900 and 765 used on 601/701.

Dean, if you still have the TSX 593 carb, I would be interested in it!
PMs don't seem to be working and your email address doesn't show on your profile.
