860 with Loader Front Tire recommendations

I'm finally breaking down and buying some new front tires for my 860. I think I might have the originals still :ROFLMAO:. There have been some times when I am running the loader and notice the front tires really squatting down, so I was looking at 8 or 10 ply tires. It seems they are available but hard to come by in 6.50-16. Firestones only come in 6 ply. I'm thinking this is still going to be a huge upgrade from the ancient 4 plies I have. Is it worth trying to get 8-10 ply? And is it a major struggle to mount them? I like being able to whip off the front tires and patch the tubes myself as needed.

Generally, more plies are worth it for a loader tractor. But it depends on how hard you're using it, too. My 4600 is my loader tractor , with 7.50x16's. Readily available locally in 6 or 8 ply. 6 ply don't last long for me, but that tractor has to lift several hundred 4x6 round bales and 4x4 high moisture bales every year, plus loading manure and all the other job a loader gets around a farm. 6 ply might do just fine for you.

I can easily see why you replace tires frequently. 6 ply 600 x16 (or wider if available) pumped up to 35 PSI easily available should do the job for you. You would need a wider wheel for 7.50's.

On my 841S I use used truck tires on the front. Cheap and work well and the ones I have on it right now have been there for decades

Go to the local used tire store/flat shop,,, and find some used 16 inch tires... 7.50s if you can find them or 235/85-16s.. any tire that you can take up to 40 lbs or higher.. Even though used, you can use them till they rot off, and they are wide enough to keep the tractor from burying the front end under load. Expect to replace them every 15 to 20 years. Lately I have to pay about $35 each mounted on my rims...including a tube. And yes, run them at least at 40 to 45 lbs.
