New to tractors, grandpa is selling his and trying to determine value - any help appreciated!

I'm looking for a tractor for a 10 acre lot in Missouri with my home on it. It's mostly flat, about 60% field and 40% wooded. I expect to use it for snow, gravel driveway maintenance, mowing regularly with the occasional other projects like post hole digging, and moving material with a dirt scoop or similar attachment. I've attached images of a Ford 3000 my grandpa is selling, I know the battery needs replacing but very little beyond that. Immediate thoughts/details on the apparent condition and features of this tractor? Appreciate the help!

Before this opportunity I was planning on keeping it simple and getting an 8N as they're a bit cheaper and available in my area and seemed to have the specs I need (at least if I added a clutch to the PTO for things like a brush hog), Is the Ford 3000 a worthy upgrade, or should I keep it simple?

I believe I am correct that all 8N Ford tractors had to have the transmission clutch engaged for the three point hitch and the PTO to work. For me that alone would be a deal killer. The Ford 3000 has power steering and likely better brakes. It would have live hydraulics, most likely live PTO, and a wider transmission gear selection.

I vote for the 3000

Appreciate the recommendations! What's a reasonable offer based on what you all can see? I'm in mid-missouri for context - I know market varies on these things a bit

The best thing about an N Ford is that they are cheap. I see several on the local buy/sell site in the $1200-$1500 range and they aren't flying off the shelf even at those prices. There are also some for $2,000-$3750 and they've been listed for months. There is 1 3000 listed at $4,000 but again it has been listed for a long time and still for sale.

What area of Missouri are you in?? The 3000 was one of Fords worst tractors but better then an 8N but still not all that much better

I would check others going price. Then go to grandpa and say, those tractors are selling for X to X amount. Would you sell it to me and teach me the ins and outs of maintaining and using it. You may get a deal, you may not. all depends on what type of grandpa you have. You may get a lot of memories with your grandpa and that can never be paid for.

As others have said, the 3000 is a much better machine in regards to creature comforts, horse power. live pro, pulling ability, etc. To top it off, I would never pass a chance to own "Grandpa's Tractor". In fact my grandson is the new owner of my 8N. He has wanted that tractor since the first time I gave him a ride on it.
