Another one of my ideas is about to come to fruition. Finishing up the rustic tin roof/outbuilding facade, about to start on the homecoming parade float this week (parade is this weekend) for the pre-K class, and just pulled my next project in the shop last night after we drove back home from the beach.
Planning to (attempt) to cut the back +- 20 inches off the back of this truck bed and hang it on the wall under the tin roof. Wanted a 70s Ford bed because it was what my great grandmother had (then my grandfather) and it was a good looking 1976ish Candy Apple Red F-100 Ranger XLT. I'll do the body work, then cut it down, either weld the bulkhead to it or a couple pieces of angle and wood panels for the back, paint it Red (probably IH Red since I have it), and add the tailgate trim (if I can find some used). I'll also make sure the lights work on a switch (converted to 110v). Essentially, you'll see the back of the truck as if it is in a shed when the tailgate is up. Pop the tailgate down and you will see the spirits displayed in the bed (might add an led strip in there), and the tailgate will serve as a bar/table. Close it up and its all hidden and away from the kids, deacons, etc. I'm not a big drinker, but I do enjoy bourbon and having friends over so thought this would be the perfect way to keep it hidden and look cool. I have 2x6 boards already between the studs on the cedar plank wall for mounting and will drill the cedar to avoid busting it. Probably use lag bolts to hold it on the wall. I'm sure mixed reviews on cutting this bed up, but I got it from a guy at work that has a bunch of old Fords. This truck was a nice 4x4 that he had that was in a bad shop fire and it burnt the front of the bed. He scrapped the truck and I got a good deal on the bed. If anyone would be interested in the rest of it, I don't need it. Haven't decided on what to do with the top of the bed being "open" with the tailgate closed. Maybe add something smooth and flat a few inches below bedside to cover it. Not sure....
Open to Any ideas, comments, or suggestions - I'm all ears. Just another crazy idea of mine. First picture is my project and the others are some Pictures of similar ones I found on the internet.
