1958 530 john deere oil Gas or Diesel?

Just wondering if its ok to use 10w30 diesel oil in my 2 cylinder gas tractor or should I just stick with a 10w30 gas oil. I read that some people have used the diesel oil. Any thoughts?

Diesel oil has more anti wear additives in it.
I use it in almost everything.
I use Rotella 15-40.

I understand it's OK to use diesel oil in anything that doesn't have a catalytic convertor, or motorcycles with wet clutches. It has zinc in which reduces wear but can damage a convertor. I use either Delvac or Rotella.

Ok awesome thanks. I was gonna use amsoil 10w-30. For the temps I'll be in here in Northern canada that's what my owners manual recommends.

I started out with gas because they were cheaper and I knew nothing about diesels. Forget the first diesel I bought but right away I realized the benefits of that as a motor fuel and have only had diesels since. Currently have 7 diesels and the only gassers are lawn mowers.

Motor oil for diesel engines is formulated to better handle(keep in suspension) the soot ash too. That's why it is always black an after hour changing.
