Ford 172 diesel flywheel marks

I am trying to time the 861 diesel tractor. The instructions online says the window that shows the timing marks is behind the starter. I don’t see a window, but I do see an opening behind the Hydraulic pump. However I don’t see any marks on the bell housing. What am I missing?

The marks are on the flywheel itself. You will need to clean the grime off to see them.

My 861D timing marks are on side of fly wheel next to starter ring so I marked the TDC and 22° on face so could be seen thru window.

I already removed the starter to find the timing marks. When you find it, make a mark on it where you want it.

You asked about marks on the bell housing. You have answers to marks on flywheel. IIRC there is a pointer built into the "window" opening

Thanks. After I scraped some paint off, I found the mark.
