Boy that was getting right down toward the end for mounted corn pickers. A neighbor had a 2ME on a 400.
For IH the 234 was the last edition of mounted picker and was made to the mid-1970's. New Idea made a mounted 2 row picker until approximately 1980.

I WOULD TAKE THE NEW IDEA over the IH as the I H was a nightmare to put on . on the New Idea the hardest part of the job was moving the rear wheels out , once that was done mounting the sub took 15 min. at best even tapping out the axle bolt holes and shoving on the drive sprocket hook the one hyd line drive into the gathering units flip the clamps over the sub frame slide the drive shafts on install the two screws put the pins in for the two lift cylinders then back the tractor up to the husken bed and ease it onto the two mounting arm stick two headed pins in hook the two drive chains and adjust put two pins in for the rods on the elevator lift the jack stands and go pick corn total time no more then and hour and ahalf once the rear tires were slid out . When one person was doing it and again once the wheels were out a shade over two hours . Three years in a row my buddy and i bought every new Idea mounted picker we could find and every M-560 narrow ft that ran . I lost count of the mounting axle plates i made up to be used on Farmalls . at the time a decent running Farmall with a mounted picker were selling at the sales like pan cakes at a firemans breakfast . Loading a picker with out destroying it was a bear and required some tear down at the sales to get 4 on a step deck our two on my goose neck .

My father bought a 314 16” rollover plow when he bought the 826. Several years later he told me that 642 had higher clearance but had not been available at the dealership. The reduced clearance of the 314 limited how fast he could pull it as the soil and cover crop got thrown up against the bottom ahead of it and didn’t get covered well. About 10 years later he found a used 140 plow 18” which was a much better setup.
