SOS 4000 Rear Axle Swap & Spare Parts
Just picked up a 4000 parts tractor with an SOS trans to use for parts on my 4500 and I'm curious what of the rear axle is the same. I know the ratio is different, but it looks like that is in the ring & pinion and the planetaries are the same - is this correct? Assuming this is the case... -

3500 3 Point to 4500?
Will the rear end cover/3 point lift assembly from a 3500 fit on a 4500? Both are 1967 w/ 3 cylinder diesel. The 3500 is a SOS trans, 4500 is a 4x4 manual reversing type. I'm thinking of selling the 3500 to reduce the collection a bit and since the 4500 will do a bit more, but the one thing... -

Looking to put a 3 point on my 3500 but uncertain what's the best way to get the parts for it. The tractor appears to have always had the backhoe on it, but it does have the hydraulics for the 3 point, so it would just be a matter of finding all the arms, link, mounts, etc. What other tractors... -

SOS Trans Work
How much of a PIA is it to work on one of these? How many special tools required? The unit in my backhoe (65(?) 3500) seems to have a broken or disconnected forward band - about 1/2 of the gears don't work. Those that do work seem to to work properly and there doesn't seem to be any other... -

Used Backhoe Valve Source?
Looks like the valve body on my 723 Ford hoe (3500 tractor) is shot - I've got cracks between 2 of the valve bores on the front face and my attempt to weld it didn't work. Any thoughts on where to find a good used valve? Not sure but I'd think most any open center manual backhoe valve should... -

Anyone know of a good source for a used 723 control valve? Turns out that the major hydraulic leak I thought was a blown hose is actually a couple a cracks in the valve body. One I think I can weld but the other is on the top and intersects 2 of the spool bores so I don't think welding is...- jaluhn

3500 SOS Problems
Tractor is a 65 3500 SOS unit. It sat for better than 10 years with a bad motor - just got done rebuilding the motor and now dealing with all the other issues. About half the gears on the trans don't seem to be working right. R2 for sure and some of the forward gears the motor loads down... -

Tell me I picked the right one - 3500 oil pan gaskets
Putting the motor back together for my 65 Ford 3500 TLB (3 cly diesel) and come to find the lower gasket set I have includes 2 oil pan gaskets, one think (~1/8") and the other thin (normal paper gasket thickness) but otherwise identical in all respects. Ford 3500 Engine Rebuild & Questions
I got the engine out of my 3500 this weekend and am now getting into the actual rebuild. I did not wind up having the remove the loader, just split the tractor and rolled the front end forward about 8", just far enough to clear the trans input shaft and then lifted the motor out. Questions...
