how to remove 545 oil pan

I have the manual and have read it. It says to move the front cross member forward. My 1 1/8 socket is way too loose and the 1 1/16 won't fit. What size are those and how do you get them loose? They are insanely tight and there is no room for wrenches to swing

A friend has asked me to help get this thing running. It has been sitting quite a while. I dont know about diesels and we will get the I&T manual but for now--how can we tell if the injectors are ok and where is the injector pump? We cleaned the fuel tank and lines and replaced two fuel filters...

    Fordson Super Major fuel filter

We are starting to work on a Super Major that has been sitting a long time and the canister for the fuel filter is empty. We got an element for it but it falls deep into the canister. Is there supposed to be a spring or spacer in the canister before the element goes in?

how do you get a new coil to work?

12V 1941 9N, rebuilt engine, new coil, points, distributor shaft bushings, blah blah. When I got ready to start it, no fire to the plugs and I figured out that the straight contact on the coil was nowhere near the contact on the dist cap so I bent it forward. It started and ran very well for...

    grinds, wont go into gear

I have been working on antique Ford cars and pickups for almost 50 years so I recognize most of the parts on my 9N. I carefully checked all the parts while the tractor was split. The throwout bearing, pressure plate and clutch disc look good. There is no slop in the throwout shaft and I...

Another 'why wont it start' thread

Freshly rebuilt engine, 1941 9N, has voltage to the new coil, hot battery, no spark at the plugs. The distributor has new bushings and shaft, new points set at .015 and the condenser tests good. I used the meter to check continuity thru the distributor, no grounds. Its 12V and I am using the...

    that PTO bearing

When I got this 9N, the PTO would not stay engaged and the PTO bearing housing was so wallowed out that I thought the bearing was bad. The new bearing was Made in China. I got the PTO shaft out and looked at the old Made in USA bearing. Its got a little free play but not much more than the...
