    5200 steering motor

I have a late 60’s Ford 5200 with the Saginaw style steering motor. The steering wheel spins with no resistance and doesn’t turn the wheels. I’m about to dig in and pull the steering column. Was wondering if the power steering pump could be bad instead?

    Rooted Cuttings?

This June we cut 18 Forsythia shoots about 10 inches long and stripped the leaves off of the bottom 4 inches. We dipped the bottom in the rooting hormone powder and planted 4 inches deep in pots. We put a glass quart jar over the cutting for 10 days to act as a terrarium. Placed pots in a shady...

Clutch plate seized to flywheel, any tricks to release?

I tried all the tricks mentioned and the only one that worked for me was the bent butterknife through the starter hole to gently pry the clutch plate away from the flywheel. Only took 30 minutes to remove the starter, unstuck the clutch, and reinstall the starter.

Remove cab to split Kubota M9000?

I have new to me Kubota M9000DTC. Front wheel assist with cab. It's an early model that needs a new dry clutch. I have the factory WSM manual that shows the clutch replacement procedure step by step on a tractor with no cab. Can all of the bell housing bolts be reached without taking the cab off?

Detailed pics of my firewood machines.

There are days when I think that I should downsize a little because I already have enough tools, but then I look at some of the posts on here and decide that I need more. Beautiful pictures of your custom built equipment!

OT: Gypsum wallboard and asbestos .....

My father worked in the wallboard factory in the 60's. He would cut the bags of asbestos fiber with his pocket knife and dump the contents into the batch mixer. He said that it was just like putting seed oats into the grain drill.

Ford 5000 with Ford 727 loader

Mine still has the original cylinders-one way for the lift and two way for the bucket. The loader arms raise up when I tip the bucket down into the ground so there isn't any down pressure. I've thought about replacing the lift cylinders with new two way ones but like everything else it comes...

74 5000 gas fuel pump leaks

The fuel pump on my 1974 5000 gasser was leaking fuel from the weep hole so I replaced it with a new unit from CNH. It started leaking from the diaphragm/gasket right away, so I took it out and retourqed the screws and it still leaked after putting it back in. Ordered an aftermarket unit that...

How Is The Weather In Buffalo?

I just drove home from Buffalo and it looks just like your picture. 32 degrees with 1 1/2 inches of snow and now freezing rain. The first real snow of the season.

    Treating ash trees

Didn't want to highjack the thread below on the dying ash trees. We are losing them to the Emerald Ash Borer in the wood lot now and would like to save one Ash shade tree in the yard. Would anyone care to share what they know about treatment options?

    Foundation for round corn crib

Thank you for the replies. I'll go with concrete and keep my eyes open for a corn drag. Do it right the first time and it will save me years of headaches.

    Foundation for round corn crib

I'm putting up a 14 foot diameter wire corn crib and want to raise the base up about 24 inches from ground level to make it easier to get the corn into my feed grinder hopper. Corn drags are not seen around here and shoveling was easier when I was 25 years old. What type of platform should I set...

    Jack Hammer

I have a two story bank barn with hay storage in the top and box stalls and a loafing area for the cattle in the bottom. The basement has a stone/concrete wall that is 4 feet high around the outside and I want to make 10 foot wide opening so that I can get a tractor and loader in to remove...

    Screen Size for Grinding/Chopping Straw

I use a 3/4 inch screen for grinding straw with my gehl 95 grinder mixer. The biggest issue is getting it to unload from the hopper. It wants to bridge over in the tank so I unload as I grind it. Makes great bedding for the hens and keeps the pen dry.

    Inspecting disc mower cutterbar

I'm looking at a used 3pt. hitch disc mower and have heard horror stories about the cost of repairs if the cutter bar goes bad. How do I check the condition of the cutterbar/pods without taking it apart? It is a Morra 2260.
