    Haying weather

I cut all mine yesterday as the forecast says dry for 6 days or more. I waited til yesterday ( Sunday ) because they called for rain Saturday which never arrived. I hope that extra day doesn't burn me on the other end. Hot, sunny and low humidity so the hay may be ready even tomorrow. Central...

    Auto trans oil temp

A rule of thumb if you aren't working it hard is 50 degrees cooler than the coolant temp. If you are working it hard it should still stay around the coolant temp or only slightly higher. A newer GM gas truck will flash a warning that trans is overheating at 260 degrees.

I never thought I would see the day...

I work on the old stuff but sometimes I wonder why I put myself through it. The rule of thumb that I have found is the old stuff takes twice as long and is 1/2 as profitable.

    Those days are gone...

I did an alt. on a 2005 Ford Escape V6 the other day, now that is an awful job ! The labor guide says 8.2 hours to replace the alternator only ! There are some tricks and short cuts to drop it to about 3 hours worth of pure misery.

    Distracted semi driver

My wife's Aunt and her family recently got into a tangle with an erratic semi driver on the interstate in Alabama. He was swerving all over and speeding, ended up running them off the road and rolling. They were driving a Suburban and towing a large camper. A 15 year old girl now has permanent...

Rebuilding a 410E Automatic. Something I can do????

That is a common failure of that era 4L60e trannys, broken sun shell causes no reverse. You could do it, but if it were me I would get the rebuilt unit. One of the most frustrating things is getting it all back in and ready to go, and having something not right. Then you have to start all over...

I remember my Grandfather had and orange and green colored elevator when I was a little kid that had a motor on it, I bet it was a Case also. I was too small to help much , but I remember him using it a lot for hay and straw.

    HP required for elevators

Hey Guys, I have 2 elevators I use exclusively for small square bales. One is a 40 foot Kewanee and one is a 20 foot Mayraith tube type. The longer one is PTO powered and the smaller one has a 3/4 HP electric motor. I am wanting to convert both to gas engines to free up a tractor and get away...

    Great Depression

I remember my Grandfather saying they made hay in the sloughs and dried up ponds . One of those is about 1/2 mile from here, and today holds 4-5 feet of water year round.

OT: 2001 Camry Solara wheel alignment headache

That seems about right. Its been 12 years since I did an alignment professionally so I have forgotten things I used to know about it. I second your advice on the frame shop. It also makes a difference how good and accurate the equipment is. You can try as hard as you can to get it right, but if...
