My cover does have a metal spacer plate but is a single piece and has 2 oblong openings where seals go. Could the cover plate on ebay fit and work on my tractor? -

Maybe they packaged it wrong. There is only 1 offered for the 1953 jubilee. Everything else in the kit are right. -

I just bought this and tried to get the o -rings under the top plate. The original are oblong shaped. The ones in the top kit I ordered are round. Every site I look at only show round ones. Does any one know what I can do. -

Thanks for the pictures. My third gear looked about the same so I ordered a new gear from this site. I have pulled the transmission out and took everything apart. It wasn't hard but took a lot of time. Thanks for every ones help. -

It finally warmed up a little here in NY and I pulled the top cover off the transmission and put the shifter back on. Everything looks good. What should I look for? The gears look fine. Someone also said there could be too much play somewhere. -

No it doesn't. It is the typical hydraulic fitting used on most tractors I have seen. -

The ford 860 I just purchased has a male hydraulic coupler on top of the steering box. This tractor does not have power steering. Why is this fitting there? -

I pulled the detente spring and seat out and they looked fine but I still pulled another one out and switched them around trying to see if that would help but no luck. I also looked at the shift lever where the seat contacts the lever and it looks fine so I guess I will have to go into the... -

Joel thanks for the advice. I will get a book to help me. I have repaired several manual truck and car transmissions over the years but never did internal work on a tractor transmission. -

I purchased a 860 at auction and it won't stay in third gear unless you hold the shift lever. This tractor has inside wheel weights and outside pie weights and the tires are loaded. I think this tractor was used for plowing in third gear and probably has worn gears. The shift lever feels like... -

I just purchased a 860 ford. It pops out of 3rd gear. If you put slight pressure on the shiftier it stays in gear. What could be the problem? -

Resister needed?
Yes the original resister is there. I was affraid to use it because I thought it would burn out being a 6 volt resister. Thanks for the advice. When it warms up a little I will try to finish the conversion.- T L
