    Yes sir. That was my fault on not being clear on #3 mark. I was talking about the pump gear. The inspection cover exposing the gear is off right now and everything is lined up properly.

    I was the assembler on that and got em lined up. Thats part of whats giving me fits. I did all that stuff right and it still won't run like its supposed to. My local tractor guy tells me its out of time, but dangit, i did everything right on the pump reinstall.

    What can I do about the possibility of the pump gear being "off" a tooth? Right now its lined up with the #3 mark. Can I just cheat and +/- it a certain direction? Ive got the pump off so the gear is exposed. What do you think?

    I didn't put this in my original post but the pump housing was leaking fuel. Just a drip though. Just like it did before the rebuild. If you say it must have hydraulic pressure for certain things in the pump to work properly, I bet that "could" be a reason. Sorry I didn't mention that.

    They did everything internally. I just had to put the extremities back on including the head. I'm pretty meticulous when doing stuff like this, so...yeah.

    I put the pump on myself and the timing gear to it. I made sure I lined up the marks correct. Thats part of what has me perplexed. I did everything right on that end but still have the problems.

    do you think a man could fab an adapter for a three speed or automatic to hook up to the existing two-stroke diesel? I know an auto tran in it would be a stretch but, hey, you refitted the entire powertrain. I'm no dozer guru or anything but learning you did what you did gives me hope.
